It is an understatement to say that 2020 brought in unprecedented challenges for humanity the world over - and just when we thought we could see the light at the end of the tunnel already, another phase of the nightmare has come to life. It is chilling how the delta variant, which means change, is indeed forcing us to change and reevaluate everything we hold dear as a society.
But what has not changed, and will never change, is our commitment to supporting, enabling, and bridging social enterprises and creative startups. Now, more than ever, these agents of change need our support so they won’t just survive, but bounce back better and create impact.
The first half of 2021, we took a step back to reevaluate the Roots Collective and its direction from a more macro perspective, and we have been hard at work on a lot of improvements on our platforms and ourselves! We have relaunched our website and web store with a new look and new features to make the e-commerce experience smoother and more convenient. We are shining a brighter spotlight on each of the enterprises in our community on our social media channels. We are gradually expanding the offerings we have, for both retail and corporate customers alike.
Last year, through the efforts of both our first intern under the “Entrepreneurial Solutions to Social Problems” elective of the Asian Institute of Management’s (AIM) Masters in Development Management (MDM) program (today a major subject renamed “Strategies for Social Innovation”) and our Chief Operating Officer, we launched our first-ever Roots Collective Corporate Catalogue, a selection of our most giftable and bestselling products. It was – and is – a free download on our website, with a cool feature being that future updates will auto-prompt you via email to download the updated edition. This also served as our de facto product catalogue, but we recognized that this was limiting as not all enterprises in the Roots Collective community were featured in it yet.
This year, we are proud to bring you this second edition of the catalogue.
Every single enterprise in the community as of the time of publication of this new edition is now onboarded and featured, though not every single product may be displayed in the interest of space management. Compared to the first edition, it’s almost twice as expansive!
We have also refreshed the product categories to align them with the category overhaul on our website, to help you organize your browsing and shopping experience. The enterprises are still arranged by alphabetical order for a smooth cover-to-cover perusal if you would be exploring the catalogue like that.
Our wish is that, this upcoming holiday season, when the world needs much more love and hope, we can be your partner in giving just that to your stakeholders - and, at the same time, keep on giving. If there’s one thing that social enterprises are full of, that is in their lifeblood, it is hope – hope for a better future for their constituents, for the environment, for society. Their mission to change the game simply screams hope.
So when you give gifts from the Roots Collective, you are actually giving the gift of hope – not just to your recipients, but to others as well. Remember that, when you support our social and creative enterprises, you support communities and dreams, and you will be helping to make the world a better place, one change-maker at a time.
