A Glimpse of our Roots

The “Abra" Poncho Top is a hand woven and hand embroidered top created by the hand weavers of the ethnolinguistic group in Abra, also known as the Itneg Tribe. This embroidery style is called “Kinamay”, a dying artisan practice that we aim to preserve. We aim to preserve the culture and tradition of the Itneg Tribe by creating artisanal wear.

Caring for hand-embroidered clothes requires a gentle touch to preserve the intricate work and fabric quality.

Handwashing: It's preferable to hand wash embroidered garments in cold water using a mild detergent. Turn the garment inside out before washing to protect the embroidery.
Gentle Handling: Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric. Instead, gently swish the garment in the soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Direct sunlight can fade the colors of both the fabric and the embroidery threads. Dry the garment in a shaded area to maintain its vibrancy.
Ironing: If ironing is necessary, use a low-heat setting and iron the garment inside out. Place a clean cloth over the embroidery before ironing to protect the stitches.
