For its 15th anniversary in 2016, the Roots Collective's strategic NGO partner, the Peace & Equity Foundation (PEF), came up with a book on its strategic shift towards building and scaling up social enterprises, released in 2017.

Excerpted from one of the social enterprise thought leaders on social enterprise featured in the book, this statement summarizes the thoughts, realizations, and insights PEF has collected throughout their five-year “unang taya” experience in investing in social enterprises. That, in the long run, the social mission and the interests of enterprises must converge for the transformation of poor communities into sustainable and productive members of society.

Founded in 2001, the Peace & Equity Foundation (PEF) aspires to drive positive change in poor Filipino household communities by investing in social enterprises that will provide them with viable livelihood and better access to basic services. They work with partners who share this vision by developing models and best practices that will steer social enterprises to scale up. PEF is a strategic partner in growth of the Roots Collective.
